MIDTOWN — A thief stole nearly $3,100 by cashing bogus checks at three different Chase banks in Manhattan on a single day in July, police said.

The female suspect deposited fraudulent checks from an account belonging to a 23-year-old woman at three separate bank locations — 171 W. 57th St., 1775 Broadway at 57th Street, and 601 Eighth Ave. at 39th Street — on July 11, a police spokesman said.

It was not clear whether the checks were counterfeit or whether she forged the victim's signature.

The suspect, whose photo was released from surveillance video, was described as 5-foot-2 and weighing about 110 pounds, police said. She was last seen wearing a sleeveless green shirt and sunglasses.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
