QUEENS — El Coyote, a small chain of Mexican restaurants with locations in Jackson Heights and Connecticut, opened its newest outpost in Forest Hills earlier this week, the owners said.

The new location, on the second floor of a retail complex at 70-09 Austin St., replaced Garcia's Mexican Cafe, which closed last year after 25 years in business.

El Coyote will serve a number of traditional Mexican dishes, including enchiladas, quesadillas, guacamole and fajitas, the owners said.

It will also offer churrasco, or steak served with marinated onions, rice and beans ($21.95), mole poblano, which consists of chicken with homemade mole sauce, and banana chicken, a newly created dish that's made of boneless chicken breast sauteed with bananas and raisins ($14.95).

Drink options will include sangria (white and red), mojitos and pina coladas.

The restaurant will also serve its signature drink, a "Lime Boat" margarita that's made with fresh squeezed limes, Sauza Gold Tequila, Grand Marnier, Cointreau and topped with a "lime boat" — a lime rind filled with tequila that floats on top.

Drinks cost $4 each during happy hour (Monday through Wednesday, all day) and $7.50 at other times, the owners said.

El Coyote, established about a decade ago by Carlos Axilote, has another location on Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights and two others in Connecticut.

A sit-down restaurant serving Colombian food is also scheduled to open at 88-44 Sutphin Blvd. in Jamaica next week, according to the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District.

Nutripan — which has another location in Elmhurst — will have about 40 seats and will also feature a bakery, according to Simone Price, executive director of the BID.

"It’s going to be great for the corridor because we don’t have anything like that here," Price said, referring to Sutphin Boulevard.

The restaurant is scheduled to open Monday at 6 a.m.
