HUNTERS POINT — LIC Flea & Food will start serving beer and wine for the first time this weekend, letting shoppers grab a brew in an outdoor beer garden while they browse.
The flea market — which went before Community Board 2 this spring in its bid for a license to serve booze — will open the beer garden in the back of its space at 46th Avenue and 5th Street near the waterfront, according to organizer Josh Schneps.
Shoppers can get a special deal this weekend with $2 brews from 4:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Wine will also be available.
Schneps said they plan to feature beers from Queens-based breweries, including the nearby Rockaway Brewing Company, Queens Brewery, Astoria's SingleCut Beersmiths, and Finback Brewery.
"I really want to promote the breweries, and show people in Queens that there are a lot of great things being done with beer [here]," Schneps said.
The beer garden will be open every Saturday and Sunday through the end of October and possibly into November, Schneps said.
