QUEENS — The popular greenmarket in Forest Hills has introduced a frequent buyer program to encourage locals to shop there for locally grown apples and carrots on a regular basis.

As part of the program, launched on Sept. 7, shoppers will be able to enter into a raffle to win a tote bag filled with produce from the market if they attend 10 out of 12 weeks.

“The residents and shoppers of Forest Hills are wonderful supporters of the Greenmarket and we are excited to be able to show our appreciation for them through this frequent shopper program,” said Laura McDonald, a spokeswoman for the Greenmarket.

The program will run through Nov. 23, when customers' punch cards, showing the number of times they shopped, will be collected and entered into the raffle, the organizers said. One prize will be granted.

The Forest Hills Greenmarket, which opened for the first time in 2012, operates every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Forest Hills Post Office at 70th Avenue.

Farmers at the market include Andrew’s Local Honey from Fairfield County, Amantai Farm, a Pennsylvania-based farm providing vegetables, poultry, herbs and eggs, Red Jacket Orchards from Ontario County and Bread Alone, an Ulster County-based producer of artisan breads and pastries.
