GREENWICH VILLAGE — Two men shucked $1,000 from a MacDougal Street oyster bar Sunday night, police said.
Police said the two men snuck into the Mermaid Inn about midnight on Aug. 31. They were caught on surveillance camera forcing their way into the restaurant's basement office, then hurrying out. One man appeared to be holding what police said looks like a black handgun.
The restaurant, located at 79 MacDougal St., closes at 11 p.m.
An employee at the restaurant said he could not say whether anyone was in the restaurant when the burglary took place. The restaurant's owner did not immediately respond to a voicemail left on her cell phone for comment.
