DONGAN HILLS — Three men robbed a Staten Island spa of cash after threatening workers with a hammer last week, police said.

The trio of suspects walked into the New Royal Spa, at 639 North Railroad Ave., on Aug. 20 around 6:20 p.m., police said.

They threatened the employee working inside with the hammer before grabbing $600 in cash and fleeing on foot, police said.

A worker at the spa, who did not want to give her name, said the three men rang the doorbell of the spa asking for a massage, but she didn't want to let them in.

"I opened the door, they looked very strange. I didn't want to let them in," she said. "I said 'come back.'"

However, while she was talking another worker buzzed them inside — where one pulled out the hammer.

"They take out a hammer and [said] 'You give me money,'" she said. "I [was] very scared."

She said another one of the men had what looked like an iron pipe in his hand, and while they were getting money from the other worker, she ran to the barber shop next door and called the police.

"I go to the neighbor, I call the cops [and] they run away," she said.

Last year, the New Royal Spa was robbed at knife point twice in five days by the same suspect, the Staten Island Advance reported. Steven Huscha, 36, stole two laptops and cash during his first robbery but came out empty-handed the second time, and was later arrested by police, the Advance reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
