QUEENS — Just in time for back-to-school shopping, a new footwear store will soon open in Forest Hills, filling a storefront that was vacant for several years.

Moe’s Sneaker Spot, which offers a variety of athletic shoes, is slated to open at 110-50 Queens Blvd., before students return to school in September, a store representative said.

The storefront had been empty ever since Spin City Cycle moved from Forest Hills to Rego Park about three years ago.

It will be the eighth location of the chain, which also has shops in Jamaica, Glendale and Astoria.

Spirit Halloween, a store selling Halloween costumes for kids and adults, as well as decorations and accessories, will also open a temporary location in the neighborhood.

The shop is slated to pop up at 107-18 70th Road, in the former home of Santa Fe Steakhouse, which closed last December.

Trisha Lombardo, a spokeswoman for Spirit Halloween, said the Forest Hills store, one of about 100 nationwide, should open by the end of September and will remain at the site for 6 to 8 weeks.
