
MANHATTAN — A yellow taxi erupted in flames on the Queensboro Bridge, causing major traffic delays during rush hour Thursday, officials said.
The cab caught fire on the upper level of the bridge on the Manhattan-bound lanes at 4:13 p.m., according to an FDNY spokeswoman.
Black smoke from the car fire could be seen from blocks away.
There were extensive delays in both directions on the upper level of the bridge, according to the Office of Emergency Management.
No injuries have been reported, the FDNY spokeswoman said. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze within 45 minutes.
