LOWER EAST SIDE — A thief snatched a pendant worth about $400 from an unsuspecting teen in a Cherry Street elevator in late July, police said.

Video released by police shows the suspect and victim, whose names were not released, standing on opposite sides of an elevator at the lobby level of Rutgers Houses, 65 Pike St. near Cherry Street, about 4:35 p.m. on July 25.

When the doors opened, the suspect reached over to the 18-year-old victim, yanked off his pendant and ran, the video shows.

The thief made off with the pendant but left the chain behind, an NYPD spokesman said.

The victim did not require medical attention after the robbery, police said.

Police are still searching for the suspect, who was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and khaki pants.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
