THE BRONX — A woman's face was beaten in an anti-gay attack in a Melrose deli that's being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force, police said.
The woman, whose name and age were not released, walked into a deli at 395 E. 149th St., near Melrose Avenue, about 2:30 a.m. on July 23 and was followed by two men who punched her in the face and body while making anti-gay statements, NYPD officials said.
Her lip and ear were both cut in the assault, but a police spokesman didn't know if she required further medical attention.
Investigators released surveillance photos of the attackers, one of whom appeared to be wearing a purple hoodie while the other did not have a shirt on.
Both still hadn't been arrested as of Friday morning, an NYPD spokesman said.
