MANHATTAN — A mother was arrested after abandoning her 8-year-old son on an Upper East Side street corner at night last month, according to court papers.
Natasha Harrow, 35, left her son at the corner of East 86th Street and First Avenue on July 22 at 9:45 p.m., telling him, “You always wanted me to go away, I'll go away,” according to court documents.
The boy wandered around the neighborhood with $4 in his pocket for about two hours until a good Samaritan alerted police, the Daily News reported.
Police questioned Harrow on Aug. 4 and she allegedly admitted to leaving her son on the street.
"No, I left him at 96th Street and Second Avenue,” she told investigators, according to court papers.
The mother was charged with abandonment of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday and held on $5,000 bond.
The boy’s grandmother was reportedly caring for him at her Brooklyn home.
Harrow is due back in court on Friday.
Harrow’s lawyer, Lisa Freedman, declined to comment.
