Man Fatally Shot in Head Outside His Apartment Building, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A 27-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night during a fight outside his Hamilton Heights apartment building, police said.

Daryl Washington was arguing with the shooter outside 501 West 144th St., near Amsterdam Avenue, just before 11 p.m. when the suspect drew a gun and shot Washington in the head, according to the NYPD.

Washington, who lived on the fourth floor of the building, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooter, who was wearing a red T-shirt, fled on foot, an NYPD spokesman said.
