BROOKLYN — An 81-year-old woman was killed after a car struck her while she was crossing the street in Bath Beach Friday afternoon, police said.

Margherita Nanfro was crossing Bay 16th Street at Rutherford Place when a woman driving a 2002 Honda Civic traveling west on Rutherford struck her, according to the NYPD.

Nanfro, who lived on 16th Avenue in Bensonhurst, was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The 37-year-old driver remained on the scene and was not arrested.

It was not immediately clear if the driver was speeding, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
