Service Changes Planned For 14 Subway Lines This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Service changes are set to hit 14 subway lines from Friday night through Monday morning as widespread MTA work takes place.

The 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, C, D, F, N, Q, R and S lines will undergo construction aimed at improving tracks, stations and signal systems.

Here's a breakdown of the changes by line:

1 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 1 trains will run express from 96th Street to 145th Street due to repair work at 125th Street.

2 Line: From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, 2 trains will run in two segments: Between 241st Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse, with Manhattan-bound 2 trains running express from East 180th Street to 3rd Avenue-149th Street; and between 149th Street-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Avenue.

4 Line: From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local from 125th Street to Grand Central due to cable work.

5 Line: From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, 5 trains will be suspended between East 180th Street and Bowling Green due to track panel installation, electrical work and overcoat painting. Free shuttle buses will be available.

6 Line: Trains on the 6 line will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue until February 2015 because of station work.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. A free transfer is available.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. A free transfer is available.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express from 3rd Avenue-138th Street to Hunts Point Avenue because of equipment work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester due to station rehabilitation work at Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue.

7 Line: From 2 a.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Monday, 7 trains will be suspended between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza in both directions due to track panel installation. Free shuttle buses will be available. Q train will be extended to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard on Saturday and Sunday. Shuttle buses will operate between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza, making stops at Queensboro Plaza, Queens Plaza, Court Square, Hunters Point Avenue and Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue.

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 7 trains will run less frequently between Queensboro Plaza and 74th Street-Broadway due to track panel installation. The last stop on some 7 trains headed toward Queensboro Plaza will be 74th Street-Broadway.

A Line: Until September, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 88th Street, and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 104th Street due to station improvements at 88th Street and 104th Street.

For service to 88th Street, take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. For service from 88th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

For service to 104th Street, take the Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. For service from 104th Street, take the Q112 bus or take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

From 11:30 p.m Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains are suspended in both directions between 168th Street and Inwood-207th Street due to track work near 181st Street. Free shuttle buses will be available.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 111th Street due to station improvements at 104th Street. Use the Q112 bus as an alternative.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Friday to Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bounds A trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, C trains will be suspended in both directions between 145th Street and 168th Street due to track work near 181st Street. A trains will run local from 145th Street to 168th Street.

From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Brooklyn-bound C trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

D Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound D trains will skip 182-183rd Streets due to track work.

F Line: From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound F trains will be rerouted via the M line from Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue to 47-50th Street because of Second Avenue subway work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound F trains will be rerouted over the A line from West 4th Street to Jay Street-MetroTech.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound F trains will skip Sutphin Boulevard, Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard and 75th Avenue because of rail work.

Q Line: From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Q trains will be extended to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard due to track work.

R Line and N Line: Until October 2014, no N or R trains will run between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late-night N and weekend R trains will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

No N or R trains will run in either direction at Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

Late-night R trains will be unaffected.

Times Square Shuttle: From 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, the 42nd Street Shuttle will operate overnight due to work on the 7 line.
