BRONX — Police identified the 6-foot-9 rape suspect they believe pushed his way into a woman's Washington Heights apartment Tuesday night.

Jean Rodriguez, 23, who lives on Gerard Avenue in Concourse, followed the 20-year-old victim into the elevator of the West 163rd Street building about 11:30 p.m., police said. He forced his way into her apartment and sexually assaulted her, then fled on foot, according to the NYPD.

A surveillance video released by police shows him in the elevator casually interacting with another passenger, but police said he and the victim did not know each other.

The woman was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, authorities said.

Detectives from the 33rd Precinct released a wanted poster Thursday with a smiling photo of Rodriguez wearing a red and white striped shirt. He is described as 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds. He's been known to frequent Bed-Stuy, Jamaica, the South Bronx and Washington Heights, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
