QUEENS — Mechanical problems on the 7 train in Long Island City forced commuters off subway cars and snarled the evening commute, passengers and the MTA said.
An object hanging from the undercarriage of one of the subway cars prompted the train operator to stop the Main Street-bound 7 train at 7:15 p.m. for repairs, spokesman Kevin Otiz said.
Riders were told to take the Manhattan-bound 7 back to Queensboro Plaza and pick up the Flushing-bound express train to continue their commute.
Service was back up and running normally about an hour later.
