
FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A man swiped 28 bottles of Chanel perfume from a Financial District Sephora last week, police said.
The shoplifter snapped up various sizes of Chanel’s Chance perfume at about 2 p.m. on July 4, then quickly headed out of the 150 Broadway store.
He managed to steal $2,072 worth of the luxury brand’s perfume. Bottles ranged in price from about $55 to $90.
Police were still investigating the crime as of Wednesday.
Other recent incidents in the 1st Precinct include:
► Six young men stole $3,790 worth of shirts and pants from the True Religion store at 132 Prince St. on June 30 at about 2 p.m., police said. The men concealed the pants and shirts in their own clothes, then left the shop. Stolen items included seven pairs of Ricky Straight Pants, priced at $398 each, and one pair of Geno Slim Shorts for $228.
► A man swiped a $1,095 belt from the Versace boutique at 160 Mercer St. on June 30 at about noon, police said. The man grabbed the belt from a shelf, then fled the shop.
► Tools worth $1,493 were stolen from 99 Washington St., a building currently under construction, police said. Drills, hammers and drill bits were taken from the location at some point on June 28 or June 29.
► A woman had her $1,129 bike stolen after locking it to a parking sign pole outside of 66 Charlton St., police said. The 32-year-old said she locked the blue Surly Cross-Check bike at the location on June 30 at about 5 p.m., and when she came back to the spot an hour later, the bike was gone, with the lock still attached to the pole.
