NEW YORK CITY — An air quality health advisory was issued for the city until 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Active children and adults as well as people with respiratory problems, such as asthma, were advised to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.

Temperatures hovered near 90, with the humidity making it feel like 95 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

There was a chance for heavy thunderstorms in the evening, but temperatures were expected to climb back into the lower 90s Wednesday.

Thursday could bring a little relief with an expected high of 85 degrees.
