WEST VILLAGE — Bottoms up.

Perry Street eatery Left Bank is rolling out a blood-red and ocean-blue, Curaçao-tinted "Blood on the Water" cocktail this Sunday, in honor of the first movie in its Sunday dinner-and-a-movie series: "Jaws."

The drink was invented by Left Bank manager David Clift and bartender Claiborne Fortenberry to kick off the restaurant's new movie night series, the Left Bank Picture Show.

"It's something totally different and it's really cool," chef Laurence Edelman enthused about the two-tone drink, which will be on the menu for the July 6 screening alongside some Jaws-inspired seafood dishes for the night, including baked clams, oysters on the half shell and fried white bait with spicy aioli.

The series will include an array of classic films, from "Back to the Future" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to "Cinema Paradiso" and "Casablanca," screened at the restaurant every Sunday through August. The events will pair special dishes crafted by Edelman and unique cocktails concocted by Clift and Fortenberry to go with each of the films.

The series is a first for the 3-year-old restaurant.

Edelman said he and co-owner Micheline Gaulin got the idea for the movie series "when we did a 70th birthday for this great woman" whose family brought in a projector for a slideshow.

"Her family threw her a big party at Left Bank and her daughter put together about 15 minutes worth of old photos of her life with captions, like in silent movies, and it was all set to music," Edelman wrote in an email from Paris, where he is traveling. "Our dining room looked so great and was so filled with warm feeling."

The movies start promptly at 8:15 p.m. and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. There is no cover charge or entrance fee, and the restaurant will be serving complimentary seasoned popcorn.
