Weekend Subway Service Changes Affect 9 Lines

NEW YORK CITY — Construction on the subway system means straphangers should leave extra time for travel this weekend.

Service will be disrupted on nine lines, including the 4, 5, 6, 7, A, C, F, Q and S.

Here's a breakdown of the changes by line:

4 Line:  From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Crown Heights-Utica Avenue-bound 4 trains will run local between 12th Street and Grand Cental-42nd Street due to cable work.

5 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 5 trains will be suspended in both directions between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street due to signal upgrades on the Dyre Avenue line. Free shuttle buses will operate between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at East 180th Street.

6 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall-bound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester due to station repairs at Buhre Avenue and Zerega Avenue.

7 Line: From 2 a.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Sunday, 7 trains will be suspended between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza in both directions due to track work. Take the E, F, N, Q or S trains or free shuttle buses instead. 

Q service will be extended to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Shuttle buses will run between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza, stopping at Queensboro Plaza, Queens Plaza, Court Square, Hunters Point Avenue and Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue.

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, the last stop on some 7 trains headed toward Queensboro Plaza will be 74th Street-Broadway due to track work.

A Line: Through August, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 88th Street, and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 104th Street due to station repairs at 88th Street and 104th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 111th Street due to station repairs at 104th Street. Take the Q112 bus instead.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains will be suspended in both directions between 168th Street and Inwood-207th Street due to track work near 181st Street.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, C trains will be suspended in both directions between 145th Street and 168th Street due to track work near 181st Street.  Take the A train, running local between 145th Street and 168th Street.

F line: From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F trains will be rerouted via the E line from Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue to Fifth Avenue/53rd Street because of Second Avenue subway construction.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F trains will skip Sutphin Boulevard, Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard and 75th Avenue due to rail work south of Parsons Boulevard.

Q Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound Q trains will run express from Kings Highway to Sheepshead Bay due to station rehabilitation work at Parkside Avenue, Beverly Road and Cortelyou Road stations.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue bound Q trains will run express from Kings Highway to Sheepshead Bay, bypassing Avenue U and Neck Road due to track work.

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Q trains are extended to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard.

S Line (42nd Street Shuttle): From 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, the 42nd Street Shuttle will operate overnight due to work related to the 7 line.
