QUEENS — Thieves left five cars on blocks in Kew Gardens last week, after stealing tires and rims from the vehicles, which were parked throughout the neighborhood, police said.

The suspects targeted cars left along quiet streets such as Curzon and Abingdon roads, but also on Lefferts Boulevard, said Deputy Inspector Henry Sautner at a 102nd Precinct Community Council meeting Tuesday night.

Among the cars that thieves targeted were two Hondas, one Nissan, an Infiniti and a BMW, Sautner said.

Police officials said that each time the thieves struck at nighttime, removing the tires in a matter of minutes and leaving the cars on blocks.

Authorities said they have increased the number of patrols in the area as a result.
