LONG ISLAND CITY — It's a new twist on a takeout classic.
A new food vendor is set to join the roster at the LIC Flea & Food this weekend, serving po'boy-style sandwiches filled with General Tso's chicken.
After a one-night stint at the Taiwanese Night Market in April, vendor General Tso'Boy — which sells sandwiches inspired by traditional Chinese-American dishes — will make its debut at the flea market on Saturday.
The foodie newcomer will serve its signature dish, which features pieces of beer-battered chicken thighs in a General Tso's sauce, served as a submarine sandwich dressed with shredded lettuce and mayo.
General Tso'Boy was founded by Gary Wu, who grew up working in his family's Chinese restaurant in Rockland County, and Jessica Lin, whose previous stints in the food industry include operations at Union Square Hospitality Group and branding for Luke's Lobster.
The pair spent a year testing recipes and developing the brand and eventually hope to open a permanent spot in the city.
General Tso'Boy will be at the LIC Flea on Saturdays for eight weeks, beginning this Saturday and ending August 2.
