MANHATTAN — An armed mugger unsatisfied with the $40 he initially robbed from his victim on an Inwood street Tuesday afternoon shot his victim in the right leg, prompting the wounded man to hand over another $260, police said.

Surveillance footage of the attack shows the suspect approach a man, 25, and his 19-year-old girlfriend near West 204th Street and Sherman Avenue about 3:30 p.m., the NYPD said. The suspect pointed his gun at the couple and demanded cash, prompting the man to hand over $40, police said.

The suspect then shot his victim in the right leg and demanded more, police said.

The victim then handed over another $260, and the suspect fled north on Sherman Avenue to a waiting black car and drove off, police said.

The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.

The suspect was described as being in his late 20s, standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing 160 pounds, with a mustache and beard, the NYPD said. He was wearing a light T-shirt, dark jeans and dark sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
