Woman Struck and Killed by Train in Bronx, Officials Say

MELROSE — A woman was killed after being struck by a subway train in The Bronx during rush hour Friday morning, officials said.

The woman, who was in her mid-30s, was hit by a northbound 5 train at the Third Avenue/149th Street stop at about 8:18 a.m., according to officials. 

Northbound subway service was bypassing the Third Avenue stop, according to the MTA. 

It was not immediately clear how the woman ended up on the tracks.
