MANHATTAN — An East Harlem police officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a car while chasing an escaped prisoner Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD

The suspect, whose name was not released, was being taken out of 25th Precinct stationhouse on East 119th Street with another prisoner on their way to the Manhattan Detention Complex when he started running away from police, officials said.

The officer, whose name was also not released, sprinted after him, chasing him to 120th Street and Park Avenue, where the officer was hit by a car, officials said.

The prisoner was caught at the intersection and the officer was transported to St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
