GOWANUS — An auto shop worker in Brooklyn was killed in a hit-and-run crash outside his job on Saturday morning, police said.

Felipe Castro, 27, of Sunset Park, was standing near 7th Street and Third Avenue when he was hit by a black Nissan Altima at 7:34 a.m., police said. Police believe he was working on a car or attempting to move a vehicle at the time he was struck.

Castro was rushed to Methodist Hospital in critical condition, and died later that afternoon, according to the NY Daily News.

According to police, the Nissan was headed southbound on Third Avenue approaching 7th Street when it slammed into the rear of a car parked halfway in the bike lane, as well as another vehicle. The Nissan also smashed into Castro, sending him headfirst into the rear window of a parked minivan, witnesses told the News.
