16 Subway Lines to Undergo Service Changes This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Service changes will hit nearly every subway line this weekend.

The 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, E, F, G, J, M, N, Q, R and S lines are slated to undergo construction to upgrade and maintain tracks, stations and signals, according to the MTA.

Here's a breakdown of the changes by line:

2 Line: From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 2 trains will be suspended in both directions between Franklin Avenue and Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College.

3 Line: From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 3 trains will be suspended. Shuttle buses and 2 trains will provide alternate service. In Brooklyn, free shuttle buses will operate between Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights and New Lots Avenue in East New York. Transfer between 2 trains and free shuttle buses at Franklin Avenue. In Harlem, free shuttle buses will stop at 135th Street, 145th Street and 148th Street. Transfer between 2 trains and free shuttle buses at 135th Street.

4 Line: From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 4 trains will be suspended between Barclays Center and New Lots Avenue. Shuttle buses and 2 trains will provide alternate service. Transfer between 2 trains and free shuttle buses at Franklin Avenue.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, 4 trains will run local between 125th Street and Grand Central because of cable work.

5 Line: From 5:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, 5 trains will run local in both directions from 125th Street to Grand Central because of cable work. Trains on the 5 line will run every 20 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green.

6 Line: From 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 6 trains will run every 16 minutes between Third Avenue-138th Street and Pelham Bay Park because of track work. The last stop on some Bronx-bound 6 trains will be Third Avenue-138th Street.

A Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound A trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Brooklyn-bound C trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

E Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, World Trade Center-bound E trains will run express from Penn Station to Canal Street.

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71st Avenue due to signal work.

F Line: From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound F trains will run local between Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71st Avenue due to signal work. Coney Island-bound F trains will run local between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and 21st Street-Queensbridge.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound F trains will be rerouted via the E lines from 47th-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center to Queens Plaza because of Second Avenue subway work.

G Line: From 5 a.m. to midnight both Saturday and Sunday, G trains will run every 20 minutes between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues due to Hurricane Sandy recovery work. Some G trains will terminate at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.

J Line: From 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, J service will be suspended between Marcy Avenue and Broadway Junction because of track work. Free shuttle buses will operate between Marcy Avenue and Broadway Junction and will stop at Hewes Street, Lorimer Street, Flushing Avenue, Myrtle Avenue, Kosciusko Street, Gates Avenue, Halsey Street and Chauncey Street.

M Line: From 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, M service is suspended due to track work. Straphangers can transfer between J trains and free shuttle buses at Marcy Avenue. Free shuttle buses will operate between Middle Village-Metropolitan Avenue and Marcy Avenue and will stop at Fresh Pond Road, Forest Avenue, Seneca Avenue, Myrtle-Wyckoff, Knickerbocker Avenue, Central Avenue, Myrtle Avenue, Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street and Hewes Street.

Q Line: Until early summer, Coney Island-bound Q trains will skip Parkside Avenue, Beverly Road and Cortelyou Road because of painting and repair work on station platforms.

S Line (Rockaway Park Shuttle): From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, the Rockaway Park Shuttle is suspended due to track work. Free shuttle buses will be available to provide alternate service between Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street and Beach 67th Street, stopping at Beach 105th Street, Beach 98th Street and Beach 90th Street. Transfer between A trains and free shuttle buses at Beach 67th Street.

N and R Lines: Until October 2014, no N or R trains will run between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late-night N trains and weekend R trains are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

No N or R trains will stop in either direction between Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

Late-night R shuttle serve in Brooklyn is unaffected.
