TRIBECA — A food worker at the popular restaurant Pepolino suffered a serious but not life-threatening injury when his hand was caught in a kitchen machine Tuesday afternoon, fire department officials said.

The unidentified worker was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment about 3 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

"He's fine. He's fine, I think," a man who answered the phone at the West Broadway restaurant said.

The well-regarded Italian spot, which Yelp reviewers describe as "cozy and inviting," received a B grade from the city Department of Health in its most recent inspection. The eatery was cited for unsanitary conditions.
