BRONX — Police arrested the gunman they said killed a 30-year-old Belmont man in an apartment building.
Richard Washington, 28, also of Belmont, was arrested in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon on charges he murdered Robert Corbett, 30, in the lobby of 2375 Southern Blvd just before noon on April 15, according to police and published reports.
Corbett was transported to St. Barnabas hospital and pronounced dead shortly after, police said.
Washington, who has a long arrest record, most recently on charges of carrying out an armed robbery, grand larceny and assault in the Bronx on April 8, was arraigned Thursday on charges of murder and weapons possession in connection to Corbett's death.
He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court on Friday, according to court documents.
