MIDTOWN — A construction worker fell to his death from a scaffolding at the chic Dream Hotel at 210 W. 55th Street, the FDNY said.

The unidentified 40-year-old man fell just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said.

"The body was crumpled up," witness Jennifer Harvey, 36, said. "People started yelling so I ran over. It was really sad to see."

A Department of Buildings inspection team was also responded on Monday afternoon to inspect the scaffolding, records show.

"We see work going on with people without harnesses and we're always worried that they would fall," Harvey said.

Staff at the hotel declined to comment.

Police believe the fall was accidental, but their investigation continues.
