FLUSHING — Police were on the lookout for a man who tried to kidnap a boy near his school on Friday afternoon.

The victim, an 11-year-old boy, was waiting to be picked up after school by his father, at the corner of Colden Street and 45th Avenue, police said, when he was approached by the suspect.

The man, who was driving a dark blue four-door sedan, drove up to the child just after 2:30 p.m., according to police.

“Get in the car, I’ll take you somewhere nice upstate,” the suspect told the victim, according to police.

When the boy refused, the suspect got out of the car and attempted to force the boy inside by grabbing his hands and pulling him into the sedan.

The boy’s father approached the intersection at the same moment, which caused the suspect to drive off, police said.

The police have described the suspect as a 40-year-old man, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, with short black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue, multi-colored sweatshirt and brown slacks, according to police.
