FORDHAM — A man was shot to death inside his Bronx apartment Sunday morning as he struggled with intruders, police said.

Police responding to a 911 report of a shooting inside an apartment at 335 E. 187th St. arrived at 4:43 a.m. to find the man unconscious and unresponsive, according to the NYPD.

Investigators discovered the 43-year-old victim had been shot in the head and neck after struggling with two men who had forced their way into his home, police said.

The man, who was not publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. As the intruders were fleeing, they also pistol-whipped and stole the wallet of a 19-year-old who lives in the building, police said.

Police, who have made no arrests as they continue to investigate, said the suspects both stood about 5-foot-7-inches tall.
