QUEENS — A toddler was struck by a car and seriously injured in Flushing Monday afternoon while he was with his mom picking up his brother at school, authorities said.

The unidentified 2-year-old was near the William Spyropoulos Greek-American School at 196th Street and Northern Boulevard about 2:30 p.m. after his brother's kindergarten class let out for the day, Principal Athena Kromidas said.

The boy was taken to North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital were he was in critical, but stable condition, police said.

The driver of the blue 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander involved in the crash remained at the scene and had not been charged.

"We are very concerned," Kromidas said. "It was a shock for all of us. We pray that it will all be fine."
