QUEENS — Police released a surveillance photo of a man they said made anti-Mexican statements while punching a straphanger aboard a 7 train Sunday.

A 43-year-old man was riding the train about 4 p.m. Sunday when the suspect attacked him before fleeing when the train pulled into the Court Square station in Long Island City, the NYPD said.

The straphanger suffered some cuts and bruises on his face, but refused medical attention, police said.

The suspect was described as about 6 feet tall and approximately 165 pounds.

Investigators released a sketch of the attacker Wednesday and distributed a still from surveillance footage on Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
