Monday, Feb. 17
Film Comment Selects 2014 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center begins today with 22 inspired movie discoveries and rediscoveries selected by the magazine’s editors after scouring the international festival circuit in 2013. Seventeen of the films are New York premieres. At the Upper West Side's Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at 144 W. 65th St. and The Walter Reade Theater at 165 W. 65th St.

Tuesday, Feb. 18
New York Festival of Song celebrates the often-overlooked music composed in mid-20th century Warsaw. In Warsaw Serenade expect to hear Romantic music that also brought a unique tonal language to the classical realm from composers such as Karol Szymanowski, Grażyna Bacewicz and Mieczysław Weinberg. At the Merkin Concert Hall, 129 W. 67th St., Upper West Side.

Wednesday, Feb. 19
NYC Restaurant Week kicks off today for three or more weeks of special deals from a broad range of Manhattan restaurants (Restaurant Week often gets extended even further). Thursday, Feb. 20
"The ABC of It" is an exhibition now showing in the Gottesman Exhibition Hall in the New York Public Library, celebrating the rich culture of children's literature. On display are drawings by Maurice Sendak and a “Where the Wild Things Are”-inspired installation, artwork from Eric Carle’s “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” a 1727 edition of the oldest known copy of ‘The New-England Primer’ — the most influential American children’s book of the 18th and early 19th centuries — and a pleasingly ragged Winnie-the-Pooh, the original stuffed bear given by A.A. Milne to his son Christopher Robin on his first birthday in 1921. Open today from 10 a.m until 6 p.m., Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street.

Friday, Feb. 21
New York City Beer Week kicks off tonight with a boozy opening night bash at the historic Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal. Hosted by the New York City Brewers Guild, you'll have the opportunity to sample rare and obscure beers from 30 participating breweries. The $75 ticket buys unlimited beer samples from your favorite breweries and light snacks from Parmacotto, Murray's Cheese, GUS and Whole Foods. From 7 to 10 p.m., 87 E. 42nd St., Midtown. 

Saturday, Feb. 22
This evening, as part of Early American Guitars: The Instruments of C. F. Martin, Grammy Award–winning musician and writer Rosanne Cash performs songs written and performed on her father Johnny Cash's own legendary instruments. The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, 1000 Fifth Ave. Upper East Side. 7 p.m. Ticket included with museum admission.

Sunday, Feb. 23
Today is the final day of the Culinary Kids Food Festival, a weeklong festival celebrating plants, farms and food. View daily cooking demonstrations at 1 p.m., discover new recipes and take part in hands-on activities such as pickle-making and bread-baking. In the Dining Pavilion behind the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at the New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Blvd, Bronx, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
