MIDTOWN — A man almost got away with stealing $2,000 in women's pants from a Gap store near Rockefeller Center, until security guards confronted him, police said.

The bald, 235-pound suspect started grabbing the pants inside the shop at 1212 Sixth Ave., near 48th Street, about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3, the NYPD said.

But store security spotted him and confronted him, prompting him to flee empty-handed into the nearby B, D, F and M subway station, police said.

The suspect, who is about 5-foot-6, was last seen wearing a black military-style jacket and beige pants, the NYPD said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
