GREENPOINT — The Department of Environmental Protection was planning to offer star-crossed lovers a Valentine's Day tour of the Newtown Creek sewage treatment plant, but canceled Friday morning after yet another snowstorm walloped the city.

This would have been the third year for the tours at the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Friday.

The tour was set to include an overview of the wastewater treatment process, and give details on how the plant will soon begin converting biogas into natural gas, enough to heat nearly 5,200 homes.

It was also supposed to conclude with a visit to the observation deck atop the plant's stainless-steel digester eggs, where lovers could enjoy a clear view of the Manhattan skyline and  "take home a special giveaway," according to the DEP.

An alternate date has not yet been announced.
