WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance is seeking design ideas for the official poster of the Uptown Art Stroll.

Local artists are encouraged to submit their designs to NoMAA by Feb. 21. The artist of the winning design will be awarded $500, along with the chance to have the poster mass-produced.

Poster designs should incorporate elements of northern Manhattan's arts and cultural scene and are required to include the words "Uptown Art Stroll, June 2014."

The winning design will be selected from a pool of five finalists by a panel made up of members of the local arts community, organizers say.

The stroll, now in its 11th year, is a monthlong celebration of art, music, poetry and theater in Washington Heights and Inwood. Dozens of uptown businesses become impromptu art galleries during the month of June, from the United Palace down to church fences and pharmacies. Last year's stroll featured 67 venues and 177 events. Each year there is a unique poster.

Posters must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 21. Interested artists can visit nomaanyc.org for more information.
