DONGAN HILLS — A man was stabbed in the back as he tried to break up a fight between a couple outside a Staten Island bar last month, police said.

On Jan. 26 around 3 a.m., police said Dominick Belajonas, 23, was arguing with his girlfriend inside Rhythm and Brews Bar on 1674 Richmond Rd. The two took their fight outside when a 20-year-old man attempted to break it up.

Belajonas stabbed the man in the back twice and fled the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North and was treated for his injuries, police said.

Police described Belajonas as 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about this assault or the whereabouts of Belajonas is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
