PARK SLOPE — Longtime locals and neighborhood newcomers are both welcome at a new bar on Seventh Avenue.
Parish, which opened recently at 223 Seventh Ave. near Fourth Street, is owned by a Park Slope native whose mother owned City Casuals, the clothing store that occupied the space for 39 years.
Bartender Jeanine Giammarino said it aims to please residents old and new.
Parish serves beer, wine and $11 signature cocktails including Brooklyn on the Bayou, which is made with Maker's Mark, Hennessy, Absinthe, Peychauds bitters, sugar and Creole bitters.
"There are a lot of families who've been here for 40 years, then there are newcomers," Giammarino said of Park Slope. "There are some bars where they alienate the old or they alienate the new, but we wanted to appeal to both."
Other recent comings and goings on the neighborhood restaurant and retail scene include the following:
• The bakery Buttermilk Bakeshop at 339 Seventh Ave. near Ninth Street and the new taqueria Taco Santo, at 669 Union St. off Fourth Avenue, were both slated to open Feb. 1.
• The gaming center Brooklyn Game Lab opens Feb. 3. It will host after-school gaming sessions for kids, as well as evening game events such as Scrabble nights for adults. On Feb. 6, there's a mixer event for singles from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
• The vintage clothing store Guvnor's will be closing its store at 178 Fifth Ave. near Lincoln Place within the next couple of months, Park Slope Stoop reported.
