THE BRONX — A man wanted for the rape of a 7-year-old girl in Soundview was tracked down and arrested Friday night in New Orleans after a month-long search, police said.
Virgilio Ocampo, 33, a friend of the little girl's family, had been on the lam since the Dec. 19, 2013 attack on the child, according to the NYPD.
Ocampo, who has prior arrests for assault and criminal contempt, was picked up in the Union Passenger Terminal in New Orleans Friday night, authorities said.
He was charged with rape, predatory sex assault on a child, use of a child in a sexual performance, sex abuse, promoting the sexual performance of a child, child pornography, police said.
