TRIBECA — A 5-foot-tall teddy bear will soon find a home in TriBeCa.

Korean artist Gimhongsok’s “Bearlike Construction,” a whimsical bronze sculpture designed to look as though it’s made from trash bags, is set to be displayed in TriBeCa Park in May.

“The artist likes to play with deception and irony,” said Nicole Calderon, whose Tina Kim Gallery in Chelsea is presenting the artist’s work in conjunction with the city. “His sculptures always provoke interesting responses from the public.”

The artwork, which is replacing Cheryl Farber Smith’s geometrical aluminum sculpture, “Mellow Yellow,” will remain in the small park at Beach Street and West Broadway through October.

Gimhongsok’s works have been displayed in museums and galleries across the world. "Bearlike Construction" was recently on view at international art show Art Basel in Miami Beach.
