Woman Struck and Killed by SUV in Canarsie, Police Say

CANARSIE — A 41-year-old woman was struck and killed on Monday morning by a SUV, according to police. 

Marise Clerveau was found unresponsive and unconscious in the roadway by police responding to a 911 call at 7:45 a.m., police said. She was found at Foster Avenue, near East 80th Street and EMS rushed Clerveau to Brookdale Hospital, where she died a short time after arrival, police said. 

Upon investigation, police said a Toyota SUV had been headed westbound on Foster Avenue when the fatal collision occured as Clerveau was crossing the street, according to police

The 46-year-old driver, who has not been identified, remained at the scene. Investigation was ongoing into the exact nature of the incident, and no arrests had been made, police said.
