OCEAN BREEZE — A Staten Island man was shot in the leg during a Christmas morning home invasion in Ocean Breeze, the Staten Island Advance reported.

The 36-year-old victim was wounded after an intruder broke into his Liberty Avenue home at 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the report.

Police did not know the motive behind the break-in, and no items were reported stolen from the home, the Advance reported.

The man was transported to Staten Island University Hospital North in stable condition and no arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.

The small stretch of Liberty Avenue in Ocean Breeze was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently extending the buyout program to the neighborhood.

After the storm, residents reported looting in Sandy-damaged neighborhoods, with some thieves stealing copper pipes and rebuilding materials.
