MIDLAND BEACH — An infant girl was found unresponsive and unconscious at a hotel in Staten Island Friday night, and police were investigating Saturday.

The victim, 3-month-old Jessica Holland, was discovered at the Midland Hotel by police responding to a 911 call for help with a nonresponsive infant at 10:45 p.m.

Jessica was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North and declared dead on arrival, officials said. Police said there were no signs of injury on the baby girl, according to the Staten Island Advance.

The hotel had been used in recent years as a homeless facility, the paper reported, and has a history plagued with bedbug infestations and unsanitary conditions.

A police investigation was ongoing and the Medical Examiner was looking into the cause of death.
