WILLIAMSBURG — A 22-year-old man riding a bus was attacked by a group of men last week in what police are investigating as a hate crime, officials said.

The man was on a bus at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 1 when he was attacked near 445 Flushing Ave., Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said. His eye socket was fractured and he suffered deep bruises around his eye, Kelly added.

"There may have been some sort of commotion on the bus," Kelly said. "It’s reported that a group with some sort of uniform jackets with a logo on it may have been involved.”

The NYPD's hate crimes unit is investigating, but there have been no arrests made in the case, Kelly said. Police did not say why it was being probed as a hate crime.

Kelly said the man "wasn’t spoken to, I don’t believe, until yesterday."

"We had some difficulty in locating the complainant," he added.
