WOODHAVEN — A man was killed in a hit-and-run collision on Woodhaven Boulevard early Saturday morning, according to police.

The man, identified as Yunior Antonio Perez Rodriguez, 35, of Vinegar Hill, was found lying in the roadway of the 11-lane boulevard, near the Jamaica Avenue intersection, police said.

He was found unconscious and unresponsive by officers responding to a 911 call, and had severe trauma to the body, police said. Perez Rodriguez was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, officials said.

Police said he was hit by a vehicle believed to be a white Honda sedan headed southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard, while Perez Rodriguez was crossing the wide street. The vehicle had been traveling southbound when it hit him, and took off from the scene, police said.

Earlier in the year, a 67-year-old man was struck and killed at night while trying to cross Woodhaven Boulevard at the same location in February, police said. In that case the driver stayed on the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with the accident, police said, and investigation into the fatal crash was ongoing.
