BROOKLYN — A man was shot to death just blocks from his Bedford-Stuyvesant home early Friday, police said.
Renard Griffin, 26, was shot once in the head on Kosciuszko Street, between Throop and Tompkins avenues, around 12:10 a.m., the NYPD said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Griffin, who was paroled in January after serving three years for attempted robbery, is the second member of his family to be gunned down, friends and family said.
Griffin's brother, Michael, was shot to death in a parked car at Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Dekalb Avenue in 2012, according to the New York Post.
Griffin's stepfather, who would not provide his name, said the family was devastated.
"It's rough man, it's bad," the stepfather said. "This is our second child in two years."
Griffin's next door neighbor Teddy Jackson, 18, said it was shocking to lose his friend so soon after he returned from prison.
"It's a lot," Jackson said. "He was a good man. And he just came home, so it's crazy."
No arrests have been made.
