BATTERY PARK CITY —  Get your skates laced up — Battery Park City’s new outdoor rink is ready for you to hit the ice.

The Rink at Brookfield Place, a 105-foot-by-70-foot expanse of ice that sits on the plaza between the Winter Garden and the North Cove Marina, opened to the public Saturday.

The picturesque rink, which can hold up to 250 skaters, will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. through mid-March, Brookfield said.

Each 90-minute skating session costs $15 per person, plus skate rentals cost $5 and skate sharpening costs $15, Brookfield said.

In addition to offering open skating sessions, the rink will also host hockey classes, private lessons and various skating events, which are still being scheduled.

Brookfield, which is running the ice rink with Asphalt Green Battery Park City and Liberty View Ice Rink, hopes it will be a permanent, seasonal feature in Battery Park City.

Liberty View Ice Rink ran a rink nearby in Wagner Park last winter.
