MOUNT HOPE — A man rushed in to Bronx Lebanon Hospital with a gunshot wound in his chest later died, and police were investigating the shooting Sunday.

Rafael Alam, 22, who lived on Morris Avenue, was shot down on Jerome Avenue near East 174th Street according to police, who responded to the 911 call at around 6:16 a.m. from hospital staff.

Alam had been sitting in the front passenger seat of a car talking to a woman just prior to the shooting, the NY Daily News reported, when the woman's brother approached the vehicle and shot him inside the car. The two then fled on foot, the paper wrote.

Police could not confirm the account, and said an investigation was ongoing.
